As part of our exploration of Planet PHPS, we examined maps of the school in STEAM to create a model that could be used with our robots. Students identified places that they knew and talked about activities that they did in those places using both the map and 3D model. After that we used robots to navigate to a range of locations to collect stars. This continues to build on our understanding of giving steps (coding) and controlling remote technologies.
We also continued to think about ways that technology could assist us with simple tasks like tying up shoe laces, getting dressed, preparing food, or opening things.
Something to try at home might be using a map of your local area to help your child find your place of residence and other known places. Then practice giving instructions from the two locations.
