This week the students will continue to connect the animal worlds through a scientific perspective whilst configuring how their specific groups operate in particular categories. They are looking deeper into the how they are researchers – or anthropologists – who are now identifying certain characteristics about their chosen animals groups and how they relate to their own associated groups.
Assembly
This week, the 3/4 students will be running the assembly. The focus will be about our inquiry and understandings about how groups inform or influence identity. There will be a series of different showcases that include what skills and understandings groups need, what are the specific aspects for groups to operate efficiently and describing a series of different meeting places.
NAPLAN
The NAPLAN tests will continue and finish this week. The year 3 students have completed their tasks fantastically. Please remind your child to charge their laptops each night and pack them into their bags ready for use.
City Excursion Planning continued!
The students are looking deeper into what particular meeting places we could possibly visit throughout Melbourne and our city excursion creation. This week, the students will not only continue creating a route that visits a number of meeting places, but write out a budget of how much the excursion may possibly cost and finally draw up a rough schedule of which meeting place to visit first/second/third.
Maths Spelling Investigation!
The students will be able to engage in a spelling investigation where they can familiarise themselves with mathematical words and language. Here, the students are required to find out what are some of the most common maths words, write down some challenging maths words whilst using the look/cover/write/check strategy.
Meeting Place Planning/Designing!
One of the requirements for students this term is to re-create a meeting place of one of their chosen groups. Throughout the last two weeks, they have identified which groups they want to re-create, drawn maps of their meeting places to scale inside of their maths books as well as label the different parts of their meeting places. This week, students will either continue completing these tasks as well as carefully measure the sizes of their meeting places whilst understanding how to convert between mm-cm-m.
