The students have excitedly begun working on their research projects at home and school. Most students have nominated a topic they would like to work on and hopefully shared their plan with parents and carers at home. We are encouraging the students to start to research at home and at school. If students would like to save documents, pictures, work etc on a USB, this is a great way to keep all of their information in one spot.
Below is a copy of the project explanation that we sent home at the end of last term. Any questions, come in and chat to us in the neighbourhood!
Year 2 Timeline Research Project
Throughout Term 1 the students have been investigating the concept of change and how things have changed over time from the past to the present. Students have been been exposed to many different types of timelines and created various timelines of their own. They have begun to contribute to a shared timeline, where they have had the opportunity to create a research question about something that interests them and find out where it can be placed on the timeline.
Next term (Term 2), students will delve deeper into a topic that interests them personally and create a timeline presentation. Completing this project will provide the students with the opportunity to develop their research and presentation skills that culminates in a neighbourhood expo.
This project will be a TERM LONG inquiry that will be supported by the teachers through workshops and targets to help key skills such as questioning, report writing, researching and public speaking skills. Students are also encouraged to work on this project at home and we ask parents to support their children throughout the project. The teachers will present their project to the students in Week 1, and then this will be placed onto the blog for parents to have an idea of expectations.

Students will choose a topic that they interested in. The focus should be on something that has changed or evolved over time. It can be in any category you like, such as:
