Jump Rope for Heart

Here is a message from Maddy, our sport teacher regarding Jump Rope for Heart.

Jump Rope for Heart has officially begun at Princes Hill. Students have received a sponsorship form this week and letter outlining why we are participating in this.

Each neighbourhood will have one PE session focused on learning how to skip and then skipping become a regular part of their program.

We will have 7 weeks to practice before our ‘Jump Off’. Depending on age and skill level, students will learn to skip individually, with a partner and with groups. Just like learning any new skill, remember it takes time and requires regular practice. Jess and I will be running a lunch time club for skipping enthusiasts on Wednesdays.

Hopefully this experience will inspire you to go out and buy a rope to practice at home. Just 10 minutes a day can make a huge difference to your child’s fitness levels.

Remember, the Jump Rope Team from Hungary all started by picking up a rope and having a go. Who knows what a Princes Hill Jump Rope Team could achieve!
