Learning Focus | Week 9

We started this morning reflecting on the wonderful farewell the children prepared for Geoff’s Farewell Assembly on Friday. It was a huge success in sharing the wonderful teacher Geoff was and it was wonderful to see the whole community come out to say good bye to Geoff.

During our provocations time this week we are busy putting the finishing touches on the groups artefacts we are making. Children have chosen a group they are part of and are sharing this using art, writing, visual presentations, interviews or documentaries. each morning this week we will hear from children as they present these artefacts to the neighbourhood.

Some of our provocations this week include:

Our group in numbers

Exploring how we can use numbers to represent the groups we are investigating. This includes place value, reading, writing and ordering large numbers and representing data in different ways. Conversations at home could be about the different numbers in groups you are part of?

Information reports

As well as creating an artefact for a group, children are writing information reports about their group. We have learnt about the structure of an information report and how to group information in paragraphs. This week we will further explore how we can use sentences to add detail.

Wellbeing

In the neighbourhood we continue to reflect on the school values and our visit from David Morris. We are collecting examples of when children in the neighbourhood show their values and writing examples of these to share on our values wall.
