This term, the Year 2 Neighbourhood will be going on an excursion to Sovereign Hill!
In Week 8, on Monday 19th March, we will journey to Ballarat for the day and travel back in time to experience what life was like in Victoria’s settlement towns of the 1850s, and gain a deeper understanding of the amazing impact that the gold rushes had on Australia’s history. It will be a fantastic opportunity for students to compare life in the ‘olden days’ to their own experiences, and deepen their understanding of how things that happened in the past have impacted on our world today.
It is a 1.5 hour drive to Sovereign Hill, and as such we are asking students to arrange with their families to arrive at school at 8:15am on the day of the excursion, so that our bus can depart at 8:30am. This will allow us to start our program at the museum at 10:00am. We will depart the museum at 2:00pm so that we return back to school shortly after 3:30pm.
We will be sending permission forms home with students early next week, however we are putting the call out to parent volunteers who would be keen to join us on the day. Please chat with Meredith, Jen, or Warrick if you’re interested, or if you have any questions about the excursion.
