Healthy Eating, Nude Food and Lunch Boxes

Did you know that we have a School Healthy Eating Policy at Princes Hill PS? In the prep neighbourhood,we promote healthy and nutritious eating during school times. While we eat lunch together, we often discuss choices we make to ensure that we stay healthy and happy.

If there is a birthday celebration and you would like to bring treats to the neighbourhood, we would ask parents to consider healthy options. If sugary confectionery is to be handed out, we will put them in the students’ lunchboxes at the end of the day so that parents can make their own decision regarding their consumption.

We also have an Environment Policy. In order to reduce waste and rubbish on our school grounds we ask the community to help minimise waste from lunch boxes.

We celebrate the efforts of parents and students to create nude food lunches. Nude food lunches are lunches that don’t have any waste such as wrappers, plastic or even things that can be recycled such as bottles or cardboard. If children do have waste, they are encouraged to put it in their lunch box and take it home to be recycled or sent to landfill.

Below are some photographs of nude food lunches that have been seen at Princes Hill. Thanks for any effort in this direction.

Small changes can really make a difference.
