During morning routine, the children in the preps have been investigating the weather. The focus has been to look at the temperature through certain points in time. We have been estimating the temperature by looking around to see what people are wearing and how the air feels. This has also allowed students to explore two-digit number in an authentic way, enabling them to both read the temperature from the laptop and and write on the board. We talk about the ‘difference’ in temperature between the morning and the afternoon, using strategies such as counting-on and counting-back to find these out.
