Fun, Fabulous, Financial Market Day!

Neighbourhood One had another fantastic Market Day on Friday, filled with excitement and learning. Our final Market Day for Term 3 will be on Friday 15th September!

What we are learning from Market Day

Itsara – the thing I really like about market day is we are learning to collaborate with others and learning life skills like using money and learning how to be a business owner

Astrid – I have been learning about how to write cheques and add up and take away money

Otto – I think it’s hard learning at the start how to have a business, but it is getting easier.

Etienne – We got a cheque for a DD$15 pom pom but we can’t read the signature.

Poppy – It is important to check you can read the name on the cheque before accepting it!

Feedback on the businesses

Eve – I liked Robbie’s stall “Strike a Pose” because you could go to take a photo with your friends and lots of props for a good deal.

Jemima – It would have been good for “Strike a Pose” to have customers in a line because it was hard to see what props there were when everyone crowded around.

Zac Pal – Jonah’s chocolate milkshake stall was good because he went around and told people about the milkshakes during the market day

Jonah – I made sure that the chocolate mix for the milk shakes was gluten free, nut free, sugar free. It’s also GMO free!

Archie – It would be good if Jonah’s business also had soy milk because I can’t drink normal milk.

Oliver – I really liked Henry’s lemon curd because it was lemony and it lasted over a long period of time

Louis- And who doesn’t like lemon?!

Astrid- Henry’s jars were really nicely presented and the lemon curd tasted really good.

Sophie – I really thought it was good how you could taste Henry’s curd before you bought it.

Elliot – I really liked Wei-Dong’s fruit skewers because they are healthy.

Daisy – It was good being able to make your own choice of photo from Zac Pon’s stall.

Grace – I think “Me and Stitching Steve” had a lot of choices and they worked really hard on it.

Pearl (Me and Stitching Steve)- We had five staff and that was too much for the table.

Nina (Me and Stitching Steve) – Instead of having five staff at one table we could have two or three working at a time and have shifts.

Eleanor – I think Iaan’s stall was good because there were two things going on at once.

Malik -my business was soccer because I did soccer matches

Rocco – Malik’s business was good but he should change. The “last goal wins rule” should not be there because the people that were winning can lose from one goal.

Daniel S-the soccer was good because the game started quickly. There were fair teams and it was a good game. With a lot of players it would be a terrific.
