This term, the Year 2s have started to look at different countries around the world and have started to research and collect information about places that they have a connection to or are interested in.
Last term, Jen introduced the students to a great picture story book called ‘The Travel Bug’ by Benjamin Gilmour. We used this book as a seed to create a map of where the bug might travel next, and what he might see in these countries.
This term, we’ve started reading information texts that tell us facts about different countries, and show us the differences and similarities of how people live in various places – so far we’ve looked at Australia, China, India, Italy. We have also been loving reading Atlases in the classroom (and borrowing them from the library to take home!), and learning how we can find out new information and facts about places.
