Throughout week 6, to celebrate Education Week 2016, we are embracing a maker week concept that will see students becoming creative problem solvers as they approach their learning from a new direction.
With each project group (Human Body, Earth and Space) arriving at the perfect point in time to create, build and make carefully planned representations of the learning that has been happening throughout the inquiry. This will lend itself to many embedded numeracy and literacy experiences through which the students can reflect upon and plan for further learning as we continue exploring the concepts and understandings of systems and how our world works.
Numeracy
Children will continue in their investigation of measuring the human body in order to create a time capsule. We will be using strategies such as doubling and halving numbers to help us when measuring and becoming more accurate using formal measurement tools such as rulers.
