Neighbourhood 1 Earn and Learn and Market Day Reflections

Earn and Learn

In Neighbourhood 1, we now have a 100% Earn and Learn employment rate with all members of the neighbourhood contributing to keeping the community running smoothly. This week has really been challenging our maths and money understandings as we try to work out set up costs, import taxes and possible profits from sales for our business plans.

Comments from students about their jobs this week:

Christian (Locker Safety Inspector) – “We keep lockers hygenic and that helps all the students”

Griffin, Daniel S, Aleksander K (Garbologist) – “We have been doing our job which helps keep the neighbourhood clean for everybody.”

Ezra (Media Room Inspector) – “I clean up the media room, make it tidy and make sure everyone is out at the right time.”

Bianca (Banker) -“It is quite hard being a banker because it is hard knowing who is going to do what and when to do it.”

Itsara (Banker) -“It is helping everyone because we are keeping all the money secure. We wouldn’t be able to successfully run market day today without bankers.”

Oliver (ICT Manager)- “I like fixing computers because you get to bring things to Matt and have the power to shut them down. It is also helpful to fix things so people can do their work.”

Milly (Teachers’ Personal Assistant) – “I can help the teachers a lot and I help the community because it makes it easier for the teachers to handle things.”

Market Day

Today we had 4 craft/game stalls and 8 food stalls. We all learned a lot on our first Market Day for the neighbourhood!

Reminder for our next market day (Friday 25th August)- all food items must comply with the PHPS Healthy Food Policy and have a complete ingredient list on display.
