As children grow through their primary education, they become familiar with the annual adventure camp. The camp that allows our children to develop independence, take risks and develop new friendships. While our Year 6 camp to Canberra aimed to accomplish these objectives, the trip focused primarily on connecting learning and knowledge available in places such as Parliament House, the High Court, the Australian Mint, The War Memorial, etc. As students continue to reflect on their personal experiences next week, they will upload individual posts; however, we thought you might like a quiz our students created, and a few photos to discuss over the weekend.
- Who designed Canberra?
- What was gifted to Australia and is featured in Canberra? (bonus points for what, by whom and its name!)
- When did Australia become a federation?
- Who was the first PM of Australia?
- Name the three robots at the Australian Mint?
- Why are there an odd number of seats for Justices in the High Court?
- What is the total value of the 5 cent pieces in the staircase at the Australian Mint?
- How tall do you have to be to become a Men’s Volleyball player?
- What colours are the ‘Houses’ in parliament?
- How many clocks are on the walls in Parliament House?
- How large is the Australian flag, featured at the top of Parliament House?
- What is the name of the house where the PM (Scott Morrison) lives?
- What is the name of the person who stands behind the individual who counts the votes during elections?
Camp Reflection by Seamus Dowsett
My favorite part of camp was Questacon, I really enjoyed the room marked EXCITE. It was full of amazing unusual things like four way air hockey, a five meter drop slide, you could play air hockey against a robot, there was even a net were you threw a ball really hard and it told you how fast it was.
That was definitely my favorite part.
