Collaging stories
‘Collage is putting bits of pieces of paper together to make a big bit of paper’ Hattie Yr 1
If each little bit of paper is like one of our stories, and bringing each little piece of paper together is like bringing all our stories together.
‘This will make one big story’… Lucinda
Last week the mural was completed. It was the culmination of all of the Prep- 6 motifs that represented our ‘oneness’ with the natural world, all collaged together to create one big story.
The mural was laid out in the gym for the first viewing. It is 11 meters long and is magnificent. We thank our wonderful artist in resident, Sarah Rowe, and will also look forward to the next stage of the project where the mural will be transformed into new medium, cloth, and the work will be transferred onto a cotton canvas for further embellishment and work! Sarah will be back next year to work with the students to deepen the project further and explore the extension of ideas into the medium of textile printmaking.
Here are some photos showcasing the final work. A film will be available via Compass. Many thanks to Robert for making the film for the visual art program! It is wonderful!
