Week 8 Learning Focus – What are the stories of our community?

This week we are continuing to explore the concepts of community, diversity and place through workshops and provocations. 

This week kicks off with Harmony Day on Monday , looking at how we are One community beyond just our neighbourhood. We are excited to share our ideas with everyone at Friday’s whole school assembly. 

Provocations this week include Collaborative weaving, still life, settings and meeting places, biographies of community members, story writing, writing about settings and reading and listening. 

Our writing focus this week is on the story writing process, ideas, brainstorm, draft, edit, and publish.

Our reading focus will continue to include phonological awareness and blending when reading. We will also more closely explore common diagraphs including sh, ck, wh, ch and th. 

Our mathematics focus is whole number knowledge and patterns, and an exploration into time. 

We also kick off our swimming program this week! Looking forward to jumping into them with a splash on Wednesday and Thursday.
