The 3/4 neighbourhoods returned last week from a fantastic three days at Weekaway Camp, near the town of Lancefield. Despite some very cold and wet weather, it proved to be a positive and life affirming experience for all involved.
Here are some camp related thoughts from our neighbourhood:
Sumaya : My favourite activity was the flying fox. It felt like I was flying, it was amazing. I was a bit scared the first time.
Joanna: I was away from home but I wasn’t away from my family because my mum was a parent helper!
Robert: The bus ride was very fun because there was a big bump that was very big and I called the bus driver a wonder driver but the other neighbour had to walk in the water between the bumps.
Mia: All the activities were good but Yabbying and the Flying fox were my favourite.
Ayshe: When Zoe and I went yabbying we were using the sifter and the handle was loose but I was still using it and then it broke and fell in the lake so I asked Zoe to get it out but then Sotir came along and asked what she was doing and Zoe started talking to him so i just went and got it myself.
Sumaya : My favourite activities was the flying fox. It felt like I was flying, it was amazing. I was a bit scared the first time.
Max:In activities the first I did was the flying fox I/was a bit scared but when went on it it was all good but I only got 1 go

Being Away From Home
Joanna: I was away from home but I wasn’t away from my family because my mum was a parent helper!
Coco – I missed my parents a lot but at the same time I was having so much fun.
Cabins
Sotir: I was very excited for the cabin time because I had Max, Milo and Aurelian in my cabin.
Flynn+Huon+Alex.c+Elia: I was very excited about my cabin, I had pretty much only my friends in it. In my cabin me and my friends made a game called lava monster/lava demon.
Lucy : in my cabin I was super excited for having some of my friends in my cabin.
Elia: My cabin group was awesome.
Annie- I got most of my friends in my cabin.
Bus Ride
Evie: I was tired and angry because Ayshe beat me in Uno 600 hundred times
Robert: The bus ride was very fun because there was a big bump that was very big and I called the bus driver a wonder driver but the other neighbour had to walk in the water between the bumps.
Aurelian: It was fun and interesting.
Ayshe: On the bus ride home I was bus partners with Zoe and she fell asleep and Evie was across from me on the bus so we just played Uno and I won.
Food
Freyja: The food was okay but I only liked it because they had lots of vegan food for me.
Ivy Belle: I was very happy when I realised that they had prepared REALLY good GF food for me!
Charlie: I loved the food there. I was really impressed with some of the food like the chocolate cake
Owen M: The food was very amazing and I thought it was the best thing about camp except for the cabins.
Alex L: I think the food was very good, I even think it was better than a restaurant. Overall it was delicious.
Hattie: I loved the food but some desserts I could not eat.
Huon: I was very nervous about the food. I have a very picky diet and don’t like to try new foods and some of it was delicious.
Marlo: I was nervous about the food but it was yummm.
Alex S: I found the food super healthy and actually pretty well cooked. My favourite dinner was the chicken pizza.
AC: The food impressed me, it was delicious, better than most camps probably.
Bush Day
Evie.H: I really loved the bush day because I think it helped me become more adventurous with natural materials. I also really enjoyed the damper!
Gigi – I really enjoyed the bush day because it helped me enjoy the outdoors more. I loved building huts then having them dump dirty water on us because it was fun and it encouraged us to make the hut even more water proof than we would have made it if we were not going to be in it. The Damper was delicious but the smoke was terrible so it wasn’t my favourite activity.
Elia: I really liked making the damper and the hut making.
Ada: On the Bush Day our team found a YELLOW WORM… YUCK. Anyway, then somebody found a dead thing, yeah. I found the smallest leaf.
Siri: I liked the bush walk because we got to explore the camp and see where we would be doing the activities.
Isaiah: Building huts was prodigious fun. I collected dying and deceased straw. I also made a miniature garden.-
Coco: The Bush Day was fun.
Joanna: The Bush Day was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
