Welcome parents and carers to the Term 4 Week 2 3/4NH2 blog post,
This term we have been working in our project groups. Each project group consists of students who are focussing on a particular aspect of our inquiry into community, wellbeing and belonging. Each group is focusing on one area of learning that has developed throughout this year. We hope that these projects will help to communicate everything we have understood about being a strong community.
Short Story Collection
This year everyone has been working on a narrative about a utopia or dystopia. This group has editors, judges and researchers who are finding out about what company we should use to publish these stories. The students have loved sharing their stories.
Tribes Short Documentary
The Tribes is a game that Milo made. The first tribe was called Ugg, then Moew. In the documentary you will learn about the timeline of the history of the Tribes and how the game changed because there had been a lot of wars. The children made maps, rules and laws and the National Association of the Tribes (NATT). What we have been doing so far is filming introductions of people who play this game. The next step is to film each tribe’s territory and explain its resources.
Public Art
Last term, we learnt a lot about how public art tells the story of a community. We went on an excursion to Merri-bek City Council and met with Mayor Mark and Emily, the public arts officer. This group is hoping to create a piece of public art representing our community.
Discovery Centre/Community House
We are planning to create a section in the Discovery Centre to be called the Community House that will help people’s wellbeing. We have met with Laura and Hannah and we are planning to make a model of our space and what we’re going to do. We are showing it to different neighbourhoods next week and getting their feedback to our questions.
We look forward to see how our project groups progress.
