Collage inspired by the multi-media and collage work of Sally Smart

For the past few weeks, students have been focusing on the work of Sally Smart. Kee

ping on the theme of portraiture and our explorations in a range of media, students have been inspired by Sally Smart’s collage and multimedia works and her use of both 2 and 3 Dimensional elements in her large scale installations. 

Students have considered the idea of portraiture from the perspective of collage. They have used a range of papers to create a self-portrait that shows the viewer a range of elements about the self, and have used texture and materials to further highlight those things that build a picture of who they are. Students will work on these collages over the next few weeks and built a series of panels that expand their ideas of self into a story of them.
