Instrumental Music Assembly 26/2/2021

March 11, 2021 by specialistteam

Hi Everyone,

Congratulations to everyone who performed in our first Instrumental Music Assembly for this year. At least half of our IM students, both beginners and experienced students, stepped up to share their learning. It was a special treat, especially for our Super Preps who were enjoying their first assembly ever. We were also delighted to stream our assembly live to YouTube and welcome all our extended PHPS family ‘Home viewers’.

Mark’s guitar students opened the program beautifully with some delightful, original compositions of music he has written specifically for his students. FYI, the guitar music which is broadcast into the school playground, replacing the school bell, is of Mark’s students playing a piece by Dvorak.

Mitchell’s woodwind students and Kylie’s flute students played an enjoyable selection of familiar traditional tunes and toe-tapping Jazz numbers.

Everyone who learns violin with Sasha begins their violin journey with ‘Chocolate Treats’. It was delightful to see all of Sasha’s beginners up on stage, after only 2 lessons, confidently showing what they had learnt: this is such an inspiration for the Preps and Yr 1s. It is also inspiring for the beginner violinists to hear the experienced Yr 3s and 4s.

Similarly, Rose’s students demonstrated beginner techniques of guitar finger plucking, and more advanced ensemble skills from her more experienced students. At the end of the assembly the whole school joined Rose’s students by singing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ as they played.

There are 2 more IM Assemblies this year in June and September, and there will also be our 2 IM Concerts. The IM assemblies help to make our IM program more visible to our broader school community. Unfortunately it is not possible to hear from all our IM students in a 1/2 hour assembly, so, to our wonderful students who missed joining us last week, we congratulate you for your learning, thank you for your your patience and understanding, and we look forward to your performances in our next IM assembly.

Congratulations and thanks also go to the newly trained ‘Assembly Set Up Crew’ who came to school  super early to assist Richard set up the sound system, microphones, and video cameras. Congratulations too to Kitty and Ruben, our School President and Vice Presidents who did a great job as MCs. Bravo to everyone, and as we traditionally say at PHPS: ‘Fantastico, Magnifico, Eccellente!🎉

Bravo to all.

Cheerio, Deb.
