Sharing our learning through the Welcome Project – Term 1 Week 6
This week we celebrate the learning undertaken in our neighbourhood for our whole school Welcome Project. It is a wonderful celebration of building a community of creative, engaged and collaborative learners. We have worked hard over the last few weeks to build routines, establish norms and expectations, as well as document and show rights and responsibilities.
Just before the Welcome Expo on Wednesday, we sat down together as a neighbourhood to discuss our shared understandings of our inquiry focus Who am I? and Who are we?. After thinking about the many things we have done we were able to see how these connected to what we now know to be true about our neighbourhood.
We all like different things but we all have things in common.
We are creative and we can share our learning in different ways.
In our neighbourhood, we can work independently but we can also collaborate.
The spaces around our neighbourhood have special materials that help us share our learning in different ways.
Through this thinking, we also reflected on the learning moments that drew us in the most. We asked the question – What next? As we observed many people in our neighbourhood are very excited to share their thinking through stories! This includes writing, acting, building settings and scenes and developing amazing characters! Thus, we will begin to deepen our thinking focused on our new inquiry… What is a story?
