Learning for Students in Isolation

For families who have students at home in isolation, here are some tasks which relate to what we are currently focusing on in the neighbourhood, for students who are feeling well:

We are working on writing biographies – the students have been asked to research a famous Indigenous Australian and to write a biography about them. Students could practise researching and writing a biography. The following video may assist with the structure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaK-UTKDci4

For reading – in response to a personal novel students are reading, they could practise writing some ‘Text to text, text to self and text to world connections’.

The following video can give a reminder on making these connections – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHsdQvsN8ag

In maths, we are learning about fractions – the following video is about equivalent fractions – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcHHhd6HizI , additionally, having a look and responding to some of the problems on this website could provide an interesting entry point for students too https://nrich.maths.org/13804

For inquiry, we are starting to focus on Wellbeing. Students can create a mind map or Slides presentation focused on Wellbeing, with drawings, questions and statements relating to their knowledge and curiosity about what wellbeing is and how it can be improved .

Thank you,

Sherwin & Matt
