Wellbeing at Princes Hill Primary School

At Princes Hill Primary School, our focus is to create a positive community that enhances a sense of connection and belonging in students, this is achieved by our strong focus on wellbeing and inclusion.

Through universal strategies, students are supported to develop:

  • Social and emotional skills and capabilities that promote life-long mental health and wellbeing
  • Skills to problem-solve and manage the normal stressors of life
  • Healthy relationships and the ability to work cooperatively with others
  • A sense of autonomy and purpose

Some examples of current evidence-based approaches and programs visible within our school include:

Respectful Relationships
The research based program is accessed by students across the school to ensure core values of respect and resilience are explicitly taught and embedded in our school culture. We know that changes in attitudes and behaviours can be achieved when positive attitudes, behaviours and equality are lived across the school community, and when classroom learning is reinforced by what is modelled in our school community.

Zones of Regulation
Zones of Regulation is an approach used to support the development of self -regulation in children. All the different ways children feel and the states of alertness they experience are categorised into four coloured zones.

Wellbeing Supports
As one community, we collectively strive to achieve optimal wellbeing outcomes for all students. To ensure this is possible, Princes Hill Primary School works closely with our Wellbeing Committee, the school Social Worker, School Counsellor, Leadership Team and Regional Staff such as Student Support Services (SSS).
