5/6 2021 Inquiry
Exploring Growth in the 5/6 Neighbourhoods.
Personal growth: We have connected this idea to the growth of human capabilities and potential. To understand personal growth we did a workshop where we brainstormed as many different aspects of as we could and then categorised them.
Historical growth: Historical growth is the growth of technology, medicines, understandings and their potentials. We listened to the Big Bang Theory song to help us understand historical growth.
Societal growth: To understand Societal growth, we watched a video about a man called John Snow, a doctor during the London Cholera outbreak in the mid 1800’s. He figured out that illnesses didn’t all spread by breathing ‘bad’ air, but by other means. In the case of cholera it was spread because of a lack of access to clean drinking water.
Measuring growth: We talked about the 2 different types of data that are collected when measuring growth, They are called continuous and discrete data. An example of continuous growth is collecting data on the measurements of growing a plant. Discrete growth is something like counting the number of people in a classroom.
Later in the year we will be measuring different interesting things (plants over time, ect).
