Term 3 Week 6 – Developing Our Production Companies
Over the last few weeks, we have continued to build our understanding of stories and how stories are created. Our big ideas that we are investigating are ‘Films are developed with a big idea first’ and ‘Films have a message and purpose’. Through provocations and in workshops, students worked to identify the main themes that are important to them and that could become a starting point for a story that is important to share with our community. Students agreed that our ideas could be divided into three categories – ‘Toys, Games and Sport’, ‘Family and Friends’, and ‘Nature and Animals’ and last week selected the group that they would like to be a part of to explore one of these areas more deeply.
In their new inquiry groups, the first task was to agree upon a name for their group – and ‘Team Toys Productions’, ‘Paw Armadillo Productions’, and ‘Pickle Family Productions’ were born!
This week students have spent time brainstorming ideas related to their inquiry groups’ main focus, as well as sharing their own strengths, skills and interests with each other to build a sense of belonging and inclusion within each group. Over the next few weeks, students will be collaboratively developing a story and script that will then be turned into a short film in Term 4.
