“Who am I and Who are We?” – Term 1 Week 2
Sometimes you can make new friends with your friends friends. You can then be a group

Students in the Year 1/2 Neighbourhood Two are settling into their new environment and are beginning to develop an understanding of the different learning spaces and our daily routines. We are building connections with each other and starting to learn about our unique interests and strengths.
This week students have learned about what an ‘open question’ means and brainstormed questions to ask each other and had an opportunity to learn more about students in their homegroup with our ‘Quick Chat’ speed interview activity. They have also developed their interviewing and recording skills in pairs and started to write a short biography about another student in the neighbourhood.
We can learn about eachother by asking good questions

Sometimes you might know about someone by watching what they do, like if they play the same games you like to play.

We are beginning the year with an inquiry into “Who Am I? Who Are We?” as a way to get to know each other better. This is our exploration of the Welcome Project which is being explored by all the neighbourhoods across the school.
Some of our aims for the coming weeks include finding out what makes each person in our neighbourhood unique and identifying our individual curiosities and strengths, what is important to find out about each other and why, what makes us different and how are we the same, and how do we record and share this information.
We are looking forward to sharing our discoveries about each other at our Welcome Expo in a few weeks’ time!
