Hello and welcome to all children and families in Year 1/2, Neighbourhood 1. We are so excited for a year full of learning, connection and fun in 2023. Over the past two weeks, the students have been settling into the spaces, establishing routines and getting to know new friends and teachers, all the while considering our inquiry into: Who am I, and who are we?
As teachers, we wanted to give children the opportunity to express themselves across a range of engaging activities that make the most of our unique spaces. From painting self portraits and sculpting precious objects out of clay to writing personal narratives and designing dream homes, the children have been helping us get to know them and their interests as they in turn get to know us.
As an important component of establishing school routines and expectations, the children have also been exploring and identifying what makes a safe and respectful classroom environment.
We are looking forward to identifying meaningful avenues for further learning as we continue exploring who each of us are individually, and as a whole neighbourhood.
