As a neighbourhood we all agree that things are going incredibly well. When asked, some students shared their thoughts,
Isaac “I think the neighbourhood is pretty neat because of the different spaces”
Alice “It’s going really good because we have created our own locker and Zones of Regulation profiles”
Aslan “We have been learning with purpose”
Louis “Our resources are organised”
Sylvie “I think our neighbourhood really neat because everything is put away”
As a neighbourhood we have all been learning about community, welcome and our values. We have also been thinking about the Indigenous culture of this land while going outside and exploring the plants in the vegetable garden. We were also thinking mathematically by looking for comparisons.
Some students have shown a strong interest in the natural world (wolves, beetles, chameleons, flowers). Students have been encouraged to link these interests to ideas of community and welcome.
Eddy “I have been creating a welcome house by choosing colours that are welcoming.”
Aizah “I have been making a welcome sign for Nessie and thinking about how we welcome”
Theo “I have been researching wolves and the different roles in communities of wolves. I have started a story about a community of wolves”
Henry “The focus of the books is tracking our learning”
Paul “I’ve started a map of the neighbourhood and I was thinking about how big I should draw the spaces”
Lulu “Ezra and I have been working together on a welcome expo poster and a puppet show”
Louis I have been learning about the beetles of Australia while also thinking about how this relates to community. I have learnt some amazing words like “Ommatidia” which means their compound eyes.
