Camp after the incredible Bazaar was of course a preoccupation this fortnight, but the students of 34N1 have beautifully stepped back into school-learning-mode.
Students are reaching the end of the ‘Apply’ stage of our inquiry – with most school models close to final shape, and associated documentation – a reflection on choices made, the stress test response, native gardens, sustainability, etc. – are busily being finalised. Our Arts Space is full of amazing models of possible future classrooms, playgrounds, water tanks, solar panels, trees and gardens. Students are ensuring that they have a complete display, ready for what will be an epic Expo in week 10.
In maths, we have been working on mapping and location. We put our skills to work at Camp doing Rogaining. We also have made treasure maps. Measurement is still a focus as we finalise our documentation of our buildings of the future for expo. In literacy, students are choosing a specific piece of writing to revise, incorporate feedback, edit, and publish.
Students have inquired with great maturity, unpacking the definitions of diversity and finding out about racism in our wellbeing sessions. They have been making connections to their own experiences and walking in others’ shoes.
