As the new year begins, we are thrilled to welcome the children to their new year level and the Year 1 neighbourhood community. Every child has a unique set of intelligences, and to celebrate their differences, we have planned many experiences.
Throughout the last week, the children have had the opportunity to explore different learning spaces. The children engaged in provocations and workshops with the neighbourhood teachers each morning. These spaces cater to their diverse interests, such as the art studio, where they can express themselves creatively; the learning commons, where they can expand their knowledge; the performance space, where they can showcase their skills; and the STEM space, where they can engage in hands-on activities related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Each morning, the children gather to discuss the importance of school values.
One Community
Expanding possibilities,
Strong, capable children.
Respect, helpfulness, and kindness are the core responsibilities of our neighbourhood that have come up in our discussions so far, and we must learn to uphold them to the best of our ability as young learners.
In our recent discussions, we have explored the concept of finding our place in the community and discovering our unique identity. We have also been considering how to use our voice to bring about positive change and significantly impact our community. We aim to empower ourselves and others to speak up and take action towards creating a better and more inclusive environment for everyone.
We are excited to see the children grow and thrive as they embark on this new journey of learning and discovery.
