A big welcome back to H & PE for 2022!
A very warm, summery welcome back to school to our Princes Hill school community!
Right from the first go in Week 1, we’ve spent a good amount of time setting expectations and mutual agreements of Health & PE as well as mixing teams/years together, having the chance to introduce new members. It was also an opportunity to discuss what we will be focusing on this term when it comes to our health inquiry, skills focuses as well as several upcoming events!
Our Health inquiry this year will be how everyone can identify, plan and reach their best healthy selves! With several interruptions over the past two years, students will have opportunities in their HPE sessions to carefully plan and discuss what goals they want both from a health and physical perspective.
This week, however, was a fantastic opportunity for the students to assess their own basic catching, throwing and general movement skills. Using a series of different balls, agility equipment and use of the North Oval space, students took specific note of what they could do consistently and what goals would be suitable to reach for this first term.
Some of the exciting events fast approaching in H & PE include:
- 3-6 Swimming Carnival – Wednesday 16th Feb
- Intensive Swimming Program – Beginning Week 4 (Monday, Wednesday & Friday)
- Sports focuses: Tennis, Bat Tennis, Gymnastics/Climbing, Ball Co-ordination codes and many more…
- 5-6 Team Vic Try-Outs (Weeks 1-3)
- PHPS 3-6 Cross Country – Thursday 24th March
Please note re Swimming: If you have not yet completed your child’s enrolment of Intensive Swimming or the 3-6 Swimming Carnival (compass), do so as soon as you can!
