Creating your own Game & Obstacle Course! #remotelearning4.0
Over the last two weeks we have come to find ourselves back at home remote learning. Even though it’s somewhat challenging not being able to have our regular HPE sessions at school, we’ve continued to work on our fitness and our healthy minds by being CREATIVE! During the first week of home learning, we asked the students to create their very own game and in the second week, they were required to come up with their own fitness obstacle course!
GAME: By modelling previous games we’ve played at school as inspiration (Octopus, Poison Ball and the most recent in Wood Knock), students were to create a BRAND-NEW game that they could play with their friends when we all return to school. The game itself could be any type – obstacle course, racing game, points-based game or even a game that involves just running! Here below were some of the shots taken from home:
OBSTACLE COURSE: Similar to the game task in the previous week, students were presented with many different types of fitness obstacle courses they could use as ideas for their own – running, jumping, throwing, catching whilst using optional sports equipment. Here, they were asked to create their very own obstacle course which included a series of different fitness tasks and, when finished, share back with us on Seesaw. Here are some great clips of the sensational courses the kids came up with themselves:
The main message to all students throughout remote learning was, even though we find ourselves inside, we need to keep our fitness a priority! Get outside, have a run/jog, visit the local park (or find a new one), walk the dog or play a sport with family – the aim was to do this twice a day, even if it’s for 20 minutes! Not only our physical fitness, but looking after our mental health too; being kind to ourselves, taking time to play your favourite game or listening to calm music. I’m sure everyone can’t wait to get back to school for the last couple of weeks of Term 2!
