Benvenuti a 2021!
Ciao a tutti e benvenuti all’italiano 2021! This year all students will be participating in combined Italian and performing arts learning experiences. Students will be engaging in dance and movement, singing, body percussion, drama, role play and puppetry, whilst exploring Italian language and culture. Thus far this year we’ve been settling back into routines, such as our welcome and greeting circle, where we connect as an Italian learning community, playing some language/drama games to revisit greetings and engaging in simple oral interactions such as expressing feelings and emotions. Playing language games allows us to experience the language in a fun, purposeful and interactive way. It helps to embed language and build a collaborative and respectful community.
We’ve been creating our own Italian mascots: these are little characters who will support us in our language learning adventures. As we document our learning they will bring our learning to life.
It’s been wonderful to welcome the prep students to our PHPS learning community: together we are learning how to say hello and goodbye (ciao, buongiorno), to greet Pinocchio, Anna Maria and one another, to introduce ourselves (io sono…….) to identify some colours and numbers. We are having fun exploring the Italian language through dance, movement games and song, and engaging with authentic texts.
