Celebrating the end of Term with Performances.

After many, many months, our whole school gathered to sing! Congratulations to everyone for an uplifting and meaningful Harmony Day Assembly, and BRAVO for sharing our Harmony Day sentiments through your fabulous singing. Bravo too, to all the students who signed up to perform in the ‘End of Term Variety Concerts’ for the Yr 3/4 and 5/6 Neighbourhoods. We had such a variety of talent to share and celebrate. Well done everyone.

Harmony Day Assembly.

It was so good to hear the 4 part song Asalaam Aleikhum performed by the school for the first time. I’m excited that it came together so well, and am impressed that Neighbourhoods held their parts confidently as they were hearing the other Neighbourhoods singing their harmony parts for the first time. Well done and thank you to Cleo and Karl for anchoring the song with the drone, and to Ziyu and Aurelie for performing the descant on their violins. Thank you also to Emily Hayes and Ruby for assisting with conducting Neighbourhood parts. There is something magical about our voices singing straight out into the environment, along with the ravens and other birds, especially when we are singing about sharing love and peace.

The Junior School did a wonderful job leading the song ’Hello to All the Children of the World’: eccellente plus, and our super strumming trio of Ben, Ruby and Sherwin will be in hot demand to accompany again.

On Wednesday and Thursday afternoons the Yr 4/3s and 5/6s enjoyed presenting their ‘End of Term Variety Concerts’. These informal concerts provide a great opportunity for students to share what they love to perform and we were treated to a variety of acts from brain teasing comedy to a humerous TED Talk, and from impressive gymnastics inspired dancing to beautiful solo instrumental performances. I am so impressed by the students enthusiasm and confidence to perform in front of their Neighbourhood peers and they are well on the way to the stage of their dreams. Thank you to everyone and to the MCs too.

My best wishes to everyone for a happy and restful Easter break, and I look forward to seeing you in Term 2. Take care everyone, Cheerio, Deb.
