Week 2 Learning Reflection

Hello parents and carers,

Welcome back to Term 2. Although the circumstances have changed the learning in the Year 2 neighbourhood certainly hasn’t.

The students have been incredibly productive and are actively sharing their learning on Seesaw. It has also been really pleasing to see families so involved in the learning that is happening remotely.

Some highlights for Week 2 have been the strategies used in the daily maths, the results from the weekly science experiment, the wellbeing responses and the enormous amount of writing being produced.

Here are some reflections on remote learning from the Year 2 neighbourhood:

Iggy: I like how we can still use science during school at home. So we can use items that everyone has at home.

Wilco: We have been making and planning obstacles. Have to go over three things through one thing under one thing and in between two things.

Camilla: I have been doing my art, my measuring, my daily math, my Italian and my writing.

Charlotte: I am very proud of my Head Key!

Edie: I did the science experiment and it was so much fun! I also did some reading and some writing. Every lunchtime I go for a walk. It is always so fun.

Miles: This week I did some science and it was very funny. I watched Science Max and did an egg experiment. I also made an obstacle course with my family.

Remy: I have been using Prodigy to improve my maths. Sometimes my brother helps me with my maths.

Francie: I have been doing lots of writing these past few weeks. I am learning a lot.

Evie H: In the maths activity I learnt about division and multiplication. It was a bit tricky but fun. I also liked doubling numbers.

Binderiya: I’ve learnt to be patient and calm because when they get together you don’t feel worried or scared.

Evie Mc. I have been challenging myself by doing multiplications and by doubling. I have also been learning to sometimes minus. I have also learnt with my mental maths to use hundreds, tens and ones. I think this really helps me to learn about where numbers go, I use that every day to help me with my maths now.

Undram: This week when we did that target with chocolates it was a bit challenging for me because l could not think of one but then l finally did it was fun. The most fun thing l did was the prodigy and the daily number. l liked making up strategies to get to any old number and it is also fun. l liked prodigy because it is super-duper fun.

Felix B: We are working very very hard but we are doing it!

Ayshe: I learnt that if you put an egg in vinegar and then put it in fresh water the egg can turn into a egg that feels like a cotton-ball ,makes a hole so the cottony thing can leek out and after those two processes the egg shell goes soft and then puff it shrinks down like a balloon and becomes 8cm instead of 7cm or 5cm (including the yolk cotton thing )(witch is now call the yolk cotton thing). The egg is heavy, filled with water and disgusting and one side of the egg is egg shell and little brown lines all over it just like veins but as for the other egg well just a white egg with a little spot on the left (but if you give it a little spin it will be on the right)there is a window for a little bit of orange yoke to see the would (but luckily staying inside ha ha ha ha ha ha.)

Makaila: This week I have done a science experiment with my mum and dad. I learned that science experiment is fun. Learning at home is challenging because I get distracted by my toys and my dog Miko. My mom helps me focus and not get distracted.

Tayma: I have enjoyed home schooling with my sister. It can be a bit hard when she asks me how to spell words. I’ve learnt how to be helpful.

Have a great weekend!
