Week 6 in the Year 1 Neighbourhood

The children continue to show us how capable they are with their ingenious idea to use their beautiful origami creations and turn them into cards for our shop provocation.

We have continued to see an exchange of learning from school to home, with children building on their mathematical understanding of addition through the exploration of “Friends of 10”; Australian money, through responding to the challenge to convert the value of one hundred Australian dollars to other currencies around the world; and measurement, with children coming to school to share the height of their parents, which they have measured in centimetres! The children have also been developing their graphing skills through group and personal graphing.

As Expo draws near, the children have expressed their excitment to share their projects with their families. They have demonstarted their ability to persist with tasks and see them through to completion. They have also taken ownership of their work and it is lovely to witness how proud the children are of their amazing achievements.
