The launch of the kitchen garden program

This week we begun to explore the kitchen garden project. This is a wonderful way for our students to explore through doing, connect with their community and their natural environments. Our year 3/4’s built a strong foundation of connections and questions and we can not wait to get involved!

Thank you to Marla, Marly, Nyla and Rudi for reflecting on the first day of our kitchen garden program today and writing our blog post.

Marla: This year the 3/4’s are learning about the garden and cooking different foods. This will be part of our projects and provocations. On Wednesday Meredith will be helping us. We are going to care for the garden and cook using the food we grow.

Marly: Our goal for the program is to help the garden and learn to cook with the plants. This will be an experience we can use and remember.

Nyla: Each week we will have a focus. This week we worked together to map our the garden and the kitchen and really explored what was already growing. We thought about all the things we could change.

Rudi: This morning I really liked learning about how long it takes different plants to grow. We will have to learn about lots of plants for our garden.
