CASEA student and parent program – Expressions of interest

Last year Princes Hill Primary were fortunate enough to have the CASEA (CAMHS and Schools Early Action ) Team from the Royal Children’s Hospital run a school based program with eight students from Grade one and two, and their families. The Wellbeing Coordinator and a Grade two teacher were also involved in the running of this group, and the feedback from many of the families involved was extremely positive.

The CASEA program works to help children develop positive social, emotional and behavioural strategies. The aim of the program is to promote: prosocial behaviour, positive self-esteem, social skills, problem solving skills and assertiveness.

The program also works with parents to build their confidence in responding to difficult situations that arise with their children.

We are hoping to run this program again if there is enough parent interest. The commitment required from parents is to attend a weekly parent group which will run for approximately 1.5 hours per week for a period of 8 weeks. This group will run during school hours and will be run by the Wellbeing Coordinator and a Grade 2 teacher.

We are seeking expressions of interest from parents of Grade 1 or 2 children. If you are wanting to express an interest in participating in this program, or would like further information, please contact Bronwyn (Wellbeing Coordinator) on 93895300 or email tindall.bronwyn.j@edumail.vic.gov.au

“I felt privileged undertaking the CASEA program in 2018. Up until the program commencement, I was not able to fully understand my Grade 1 child. The day to day difficulties we were all encountering were often negative, puzzling and challenging for him as well as the family as a whole. By the end of the program I was able to have a greater understanding of the reasons behind the difficulties and developed more tools in the tool box to cope in the everyday” Parent of Grade 1 student
