My own, personal, robot (STEAM)

For the last two weeks we’ve been looking at robotics and how it helps in exploration as part of our steam learning.

So far we’ve used a Sphero to explore and map the school playground. We discussed familiar robots such as R2D2, BB8, and Wall-E and began to consider the functions of these machines. We’re starting to think about remote navigation as a means to considering steps and programming of robots.

This would be a great opportunity at home to look at the types of technology you have around the home and what function it serves.

After following the robot around the school, students were asked to map their journey.

Students designed a robot they would like to have while others took turns to use the Sphero to navigate a course.

Students were encouraged to add lots of detail to their robots. We also looked at NASA blueprints Star Wars images to get inspiration.
