Shared recount writing – Teddy Bear’s Picnic

Last week, the Preps took part in a in a collaborative writing experience of the Teddy Bear’s Picnic. It was an event that the children remembered with great fondness, many children were eager to share their ideas. First we discussed the purpose of the text, then went through the key pieces of information to include when writing a recount – Who? What? When? Where? Why? We wrote the text together, then read through it at  the end. The Preps then drew a picture of their favourite part of the day which will be paired with the recount as a portfolio piece.

Eels:

The Teddy Bear’s Picnic was on the 31st of March 2017. It was on the Friday of the last day of term 1. The Preps brought our favourite teddies, picnic rugs and plates of food to the Railway Park. We sang a song to the mums and dads and brothers and sisters. They loved it. We ate lots of food. There was a lot to choose from. We ate Freddos, donuts, jelly beans, chocolate cookies, sausage rolls, lolly pops, pizza and chocolate biscuits. Then we went on the play ground. There was a big slide. We climbed on the roof of a big train. It was really fun. We had fun on the money bars too. Then we went back to school, lining up in home groups. It was a 100% fantastic day!

Axolotls:

On the last Friday of 1st term, we walked to the Railway Park for the Teddy Bear’s Picnic. We sang ‘The Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ to our families. Our teddy bears came along too – they did a little dance in the middle of our song! We ate lots of special foods that we wouldn’t usually eat. There was cake, lollipops, donuts, chocolate brownies and rice balls. We had healthy foods, but also lots of sweet stuff. Then we played on the playground and had lots of fun. The monkey bars were really good. There was a huge slide too. It was cool to climb on top of the train. Then we packed up and walked back to school. It was an absolutely awesome day!

Seahorses:

The Teddy Bear’s Picnic was on the last day of term 1. The Preps, Prep teachers and Prep families went to the Railway Park. We sang the Teddy Bear’s Picnic song. The parents took photos and looked very happy. They clapped at the end. Then we ate lots of food like cupcakes, sweets, lollypops and watermelon. We played on the play equipment after. It was really fun going on the swings. The spinning wheel that went around and around was exciting and scary! After we played, we cleaned up and lined up in our home groups. Then we walked back to school. It was a great day!
