At the end of last term, we introduced a ‘Neighbourhood Map’ on a table in our Inquiry Area, that shows the school and surrounding suburbs. Today students had the opportunity to place their photo on a location on the map that they had a connection with and then write about this connection – for example, students chose places that they visited often (their own house, a friend’s house, or a relative’s house), or enjoyed visiting (the museum, the zoo, the MCG, a local skate park, the movie theatre), or were familiar with (their school, their sibling’s high school, their parents’ place of work).
We will be studying the different features and places shown on this map in more detail over the next few weeks – come in and have a look at what we’ve found on it!
