Happenings | Bold Beginnings and Popcorn

This week in literacy while focusing on organisation of texts, the children came up with some creative, humorous, and inspiring bold beginnings. We began by investigating a range of engaging story books that hooked the reader in from the first line – to inspire us!

Here are a couple of our examples that are already on our display board:

Fish hate hot cross buns (Angus).

Every snowflake is different it its own way (Lucinda).

In numeracy our fundraising project has come to an end. On Friday we held our ‘Fakeraiser’ and all got to enjoy our snack, after paying for it and getting our change of course! Over the last two weeks we have investigated which type of popcorn (machine or microwave) is cheapest, healthiest and comparing how much popcorn it makes. For the ‘Fakeraiser’ we counted money, grouping it by countable units, to work out how much we needed for our float. We then worked out how much it cost and subtracted this from our sales to find our profit.
