During the last two weeks in 5/6 we have been completing our collective inquiry projects.
‘PHPS News’ visited ACMI to learn more about presenting skills to help with our news episodes.
Using the green screen and seeing the way the camera and lights were used in a professional setting really helped the students to focus on how we could also improve our own video.
The ‘Art Installation Group’ had their incursion and have since designed and ordered their tiles for the friendship bench. Actual production will be taking place over the next few weeks.
The ‘Forever Group’ have been finalising on how they will share their learning with our community during the Expo.
As our collective inquiries come to an end, we are focusing for the next few weeks on Business, Economics, Design and Sustainability. Using the skills and knowledge we have gained over the course of the year, students are looking at how design can be focused on solving problems. Students are attending workshops on how business decisions are made around needs and wants and the need to be able to make businesses sustainable – both financially and in relations to the use of resources. We are weaving in the geographical elements that also connect to this theme.
During provocations, as a response to our workshops some students have been looking at creating their own businesses to work through the considerations that real companies face.
English: Spelling will continue to be a focus with daily tasks to support the transference of knowledge to unknown words. We are also exploring common root/base words and their morphology. Mathematics: In mathematics, we are continuing to work on financial mathematics and tie this in with our economic focus.
