Legacy and Leadership – Term 2  Week 10

There has been so much going on the 56NH these past two weeks with inter-school sport, Senior Assembly preparation, an excursion and an incursion!

The whole neighbour visited ‘The Lume’ in the CBD as part of the Italian program and our inquiry into Leadership and Legacy.

“I liked the inventions. You could touch them and I learnt a lot” Serenity

“I liked the drawing tutorial. It broke the process down and you could follow it” Tuesday

The ‘isea, icare’ ambassadors had the next installment of their program from The Dolphin Institute. Ellie came and taught the students how to use their leadership skills by resenting information about the bay to younger members of our school community. We were also joined by two other schools to collaborate in this presentation to one of our grade one classes.

“I like how we got to practise our presentation skills with each other before presenting to the grade ones. I’m lookin go forward to sharing this with the other neighbourhoods too, maybe adding more for the grade three’s and four’s. ” Elena

During the holidays, you may want to prepare your child for what we will be looking at next term,

We will be focusing on the following elements of the curriculum, through our big ideas presented in our inquiry:

  • In literacy we will be focusing on analysing persuasive texts, looking at the devices used that evoke a particular response. In our writing, we will be building on our note taking skills particularly in relation to listening to videos and during group discussions.
  • In numeracy we are exploring time – the 12 and 24 hour system and converting between them. We will explore calculating elapsed time. In addition to this, we will be studying fractions, equivalent fractions and addition of fractions through problem solving.
