Students have been exploring museums and learning about their purposes and features throughout our inquiry. We connected the historical significance of the pandemic to our learning by documenting our experiences at home through lockdown exhibitions. Students applied what they learned about museums and became curators of exhibits which helped them to share and reflect on their experiences, highlighting what challenges they faced and what helped them to stay positive throughout this stint of home learning.
As we approached the end of 2021, we discussed with children how they could apply their understanding of museums to document and preserve key moments of learning and connection from across the school year. This has culminated in the virtual ‘Museum of Year 4’ which students are working on in small groups. They are presenting artefacts and using writing to explain and evaluate important aspects and events from our Year 4 experiences, ranging from remote learning to our research projects about Remembrance Day.
